Writing

At St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, we believe that English is at the heart of learning. We aim to develop confident, articulate and enthusiastic readers, writers and communicators who are able to express themselves clearly, think critically and engage meaningfully with the world around them. Through a rich, ambitious and inclusive English curriculum, children develop the knowledge, vocabulary and skills they need to become lifelong learners.

Our English curriculum is rooted in high-quality literature, purposeful experiences and meaningful opportunities to talk, read and write. We recognise that strong oracy and reading foundations are essential to successful writing, and therefore speaking, listening, reading and writing are deliberately interwoven throughout our curriculum.
