October: Season of Creation and Harvest Celebrations

This year, due to Covid restrictions, we will be celebrating harvest in our own class bubbles with songs, prayers and liturgy.  We have been looking at the story of St. Francis of Assisi and the Season of Creation, with Pope Francis' call to renew the earth and look after our world.

On Friday 8th October, each child will be invited to wear a bright piece of clothing or accessory with their usual school uniform to celebrate the CAFOD cause of 'Brighten up for Harvest'.  This could be a bright pair of socks, a headband, brighter tie, hat, belt or any other suitable accessory.

We are asking children to donate £1 to support Cafiod's work with our global brothers and sisters who live in poverty, along with donations of food and toiletries for our local food bank.

Stafford Foodbank have in particular requested the following items:

Cereal, rice, tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, pet food, tea/coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, fruit juice, tinned puddings, savoury and sweet snacks, toiletries (particularly female deodorant) and hygiene products.

Christmas items are also very acceptable at this time of year i.e. Christmas puddings,

selection boxes, tinned ham, tinned salmon, Christmas cakes etc.

All donations can be dropped off in the class hamper box on Friday 8th October (we will also keep these open the following week for any further donations).

Throughout October, class teachers will be guiding Harvest prayer and thanksgiving activities so that we can celebrate and praise together.
