It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school’s digital prospectus. Our school is a place where Love, Learning and Respect underpins everything we do…..everyone works together to become the best and achieve their full potential.
I am extremely proud to lead a team that is committed to providing a safe, happy learning community in which our children can thrive and become the best they can be. As a team we work closely with staff, parents, governors, outside agencies and the local Parish and community to secure the best learning outcomes for our children.
St Patrick’s is part of the Holy Trinity Catholic Multi Academy Company. Our Mission Statement of “Growing Together” is fundamental to the schools within the CMAC. We work very closely with all the schools to ensure the ethos, distinctiveness and Gospel values of Catholic education permeates throughout our schools.

Our School Environment
Our school is a welcoming and vibrant school with learning walls and displays which support and celebrate children’s work.
Our Early Years and Key Stage One classrooms have outdoor areas that are extensions to the classroom. They reflect and extend the learning going on inside the classroom. The children love to learn outside and find new things to explore.
We have a fantastic library, where children can go to a calm environment and enjoy reading for pleasure. In the library there is a wide range of books for children of all ages in lots of different genres.
Classrooms have touch screen monitors where children and teachers can embrace technology. Our iPads are frequently used, alongside books for pupils to enhance learning. A Computer Suite enables children to access the computing curriculum.
A sensory room is available for children to go to when they need a quiet place to reflect and relax.
St Patrick’s will provide a safe, happy learning community where Teaching and Learning is of the highest quality promoting the attainment of personal potential – spiritually, academically, socially, morally and culturally. A place where everyone can encounter Christ in prayer, study, thought and action. We see all learners and potential learners, and their parents and carers, as of equal value.
As a school we recognise and respect difference. We foster positive attitudes and relationships, and a shared sense of cohesion and belonging.
It is a primary expectation of St Patrick’s Catholic School & Nursery that every member of the school community feels safe, valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. By ensuring this, we will be living out the Gospel message of our mission statement:
‘Here at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School we love, learn and respect each other and work together to be the best we can.’
We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all. The schools policy for positive behaviour is therefore designed to support the way in which all members of the school can live and work together in a supportive way. It aims to promote an environment where everyone feels happy, safe, and secure.
At St Patrick’s primary school we believe that Religious Education is not one subject among many but the foundation of the entire educational process. The beliefs and values it communicates inspire and unify every aspect of school life.
RE is a core subject in the curriculum and is taught using the ‘Learning and Growing as the People of God’ scheme of work to teach child friendly themes at an age appropriate level.
Children are encouraged to play an active part in Collective Worship and assemblies, Mass and Sacramental preparation. It is important to us that parents and our Parish community celebrate with us too.
Our school’s Mission Statement - Love, Learn & Respect helps focus our children on tolerance within an uncertain world, rooted in Gospel values. Children of other faiths are actively encouraged to share their faith. We celebrate the diversity of our faiths, traditions and cultures.
The National Curriculum lies at the heart of what is taught at St Patrick’s. Our strong emphasis on the basics of Mathematics and English underpin all subjects within the curriculum. The curriculum is varied and provides a broad balanced approach supporting our overriding aim of preparing our children for the future.
Phonics is at the heart of what we do in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes, It is recommended as the first strategy that children should be taught to recognise letters and sounds in words. This is key to support their early reading and writing skills.
Phonics is taught daily, for 20 minutes in Early Years and Key Stage 1 and there are many interventions going on within our school including in KS2, to ensure that children become confident and competent readers and writers.
Our teachers follow the ‘Letters and Sounds’ program and the children learn through ‘Jolly Phonics’, which is a fun, interactive way of learning phonics. Each phoneme and grapheme have an action, song and story to go with them and make them memorable for the children. Alongside Phonics, children are also taught to form their letters in the cursive style to prepare them for joining their letters.
At St Patrick’s Science contributes to the development of enquiring minds and offers children the opportunity to appreciate and understand the world.
Science is taught to ensure full coverage of the National curriculum and also ensures a correct level of challenge and progression for the children. There is an emphasis on learning through investigations and through the children’s natural enquiries about the world around them.
Through practical work, the children plan scientific investigations and gradually learn the concept of a “fair test”. They also learn to record the findings of their investigations in a variety of ways.
At St Patrick’s we aim to take advantage of the many opportunities the outdoor environment offers to learn science in context through -Science club, gardening club, science award and science weeks.
Here at St Patrick’s children have the opportunity to learn a variety of individual instruments receiving small group/1-1 tuition. This provides children with the opportunities to nourish individual talents and musical passions.
Whole Class Instrumental Lessons such as the Ukulele, percussion including drums enable children have the opportunity to begin to develop a life-long love for music.
Music is embedded into the everyday life and learning of the school. It can be found in assemblies, concerts, and special occasions/celebrations. It can be found in classrooms to support maths, positive behaviour and phonics songs. It is used to engage and enthuse children during their special time at St Patrick’s.
Our Learning: Children in KS1 and KS2 enjoy a vast array of different sports in PE, from swimming, dance and gymnastics, fundamental skills for our younger children and team games for our older children such as netball, rounders, cricket and rugby.
Extra Curriculum clubs provide opportunities for children to experience other sports such as fencing, archery, orienteering, bench ball and dodge ball.
Our children also enjoy residential visits to outdoor education centres. Outdoor Education gives the children the opportunity to experience things that they wouldn’t normally get to do, like rock climbing and BMX biking, and this is always a very memorable week for our children giving them lasting memories.
Computing ensures that pupils become digitally literate and enables them to express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology. St Patrick’s helps prepare our children for the future workplace and be active participants in a digital world.
At St Patrick’s E-safety is of paramount importance, children are well informed and aware of the potential dangers/threats that the internet can have.
Alongside the computing suite and the class ipads, each class is equipped with state of the art Ctouch smart boards. These boards help the teaching staff to facilitate learning in new and exciting ways, promoting children’s ownership of their learning. Being able to celebrate and interact with pupil’s imaginations and ideas is a momentous step for teaching and at St Patrick’s, we strive to use that opportunity to its full potential.
Our dedicated Early Years team believes in promoting love of learning by providing a curriculum that is rich in first hand experiences that excite and inspire children. We recognise children have talents and aim to develop these and make our children confident and successful individuals and learners.
We work both indoors and outdoors to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding at the heart of early years provision. We encourage children to be curious, independent and resilient individuals who want to come to school and learn, make friends and achieve.
