I would like to say a huge well done to all of Year 3 for their hard work last term. Our "PREDATOR" topic was amazing and the children really show-cased everything they had learnt in their INNOVATE CHALLENGE, where they had to create the ultimate predators. The children worked so hard and should be extremely proud of everything they have achieved.
I am excited to announce that our topic this half-term is:
GODS AND MORTALS.
A day in the life of a Greek God / Goddess...
Year 3 launched their new topic “Gods and Mortals” this Wednesday with a fantastic ENGAGE day full of fun.
They learnt about traditional Greek clothing and had a go at writing their own names in the Greek alphabet. The children also tasted a variety of Greek dishes including humous, pita bread, dried fruit, yoghurt, olives, meatballs and different cheeses. After the class were given the challenge of creating a Greek temple using resources in the classroom...how tricky this was!
In the afternoon we thought about how the Greeks used to entertain themselves. We joined in with some Greek dancing, javelin throwing in our own mini Olympics and we even made our own laurel wreath crowns. What a brilliant way to start the topic!
Miss Vaz was very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm throughout the day and she thought that the costumes were absolutely fantastic! Well done children and parents.
