Welcome to Reception Class

What an amazing term we are having in Reception Class! 

Recently, we have been learning all about our senses. The children have been exploring and asking fantastic questions. They have also been using some excellent describing words for autumn objects.

Christmas is coming! 

We have been practising for our Christmas Play and we can't wait to show you what we've been working on. We hope to see all parents and carers at our show. 

Billy Bear is our class bear and he has been on lots of adventures already with your families. We would like to say thank you to all of the parents who have been writing and including pictures in Billy's diary. It is so nice for the children to share their weekends with the class. 

Please note: If you include pictures, they will be seen by other families from reception class. 

Coming up over the next half term:

• Literacy- The children will be focusing on using phonics within their writing. They will be writing labels, lists, names etc. 
• Phonics - We have started learning some phase 3 graphemes as well as blending phase 2/3 words. 
• Maths- Learning to recognise and write numbers to 10 and beyond.
• PE- Balancing Bella (Sports Explorers)
• Topic- Our topic is 'Marvellous Me'. We are learning all about ourselves and our senses.
• R.E- People Who Help Us. We have been enjoying our fire station role play this half term.

Routines

We are trying to read with every child every day. We would really appreciate if you could also do this at home too. It is not supposed to be a long task, just simply a couple of pages per night. 

P.E Day- Wednesday and Thursday (Please remove earrings)

Library Day - We change library books on a Wednesday but please feel free to send them in any other day and we will change them for you.

Homework- Given out on Friday to be handed in on Wednesday

Celebration assembly- Every other Friday morning at 9am.
